Models Are Brave

You'll notice this model is sitting mere inches from the GIANT CICADA-KILLER WASP that invaded our shoot. We had these in our front yard a few years ago, so I sounded frighteningly like Cliff Claven (uh, yeah, your average cicada killer wasp won't actually STING anyone, they're more interested in killing cicadas, hence the name...) Eventually we gave up on this shot, but the wasp had nothing to do with it. Really. Honest.

Did I mention how spectacular and gorgeous Old Westbury Gardens were? I could have stayed here all day (hey, I did!) and I will LOVE going back for more visits. It's not far from my Mother in law's house - the kids would really love this place!

I have a traffic problem with Maryland - or, rather, with my drives to Maryland. This was a real DOOZIE, the Delaware Memorial Bridge was bumper to bumper, and it didn't get any better for a LONG time. The drive took me a long time. I could have been knitting...

Look at this groovy truck. Cool, man. Anyone have any Doritos?

Obviously, I found my camera, it was in the pocket of one of my several Potter Craft Bags. Love those bags...

I have a theory about the traffic information signs. While they do provide good information, they're also responsible for botching up traffic because people slow down to read them!

OMYG-D!!! We were in the same D(*& traffic! What a p.i.t.a! Love the crisis messages, but trust me, those HAD to be from Delaware! Md really doesn't give a sh*t. I know, I live there:) People tell me I'm crazy when I tell them NYers are the friendliest people. That's because I've lived in MD for 26 years, LOL. But seriously...
Saw you on Knitty Gritty. You were wonderful as always!
Take care,

fYep, they make you pay your way and hotel for Knitty Gritty, but pay everything for Uncommon Threads. I don't get it, either, but it kind of sucks.

UT has had NO interest in having me as a guest - but then, it's a "group" thing and, my photo in IK aside, I'm not a group...

Wow! Thanks for the bit about the wasps. My neighbor had those in the lawn and I thought they were terribly irresponsible for not getting rid of insects that look like they could not only kill a horse, but could also carry away a small child!

On a recent road trip, my Dad and I saw a lot of those pipe trucks. It seemed to us like they could have also used the space in the pipes to haul products as well. I can't remember what my Dad came up with - but my idea was (of course) skeins of yarn!!!

Ah, we're a friendly bunch here in Maryland. Although we assume that you should know directions from things like "turn left where Haussners used to be and go to the old school and turn right, it's right next to the giant tire sign."

That sign had to be DE, though. In MD all of our signs right now say "Report Suspicious Activity" Which leads to alot of interesting discussions in the car as to just what a suspicious activity might be.

BTW, Crazy for Ewe was profiled in the Baltimore Sun earlier this week. If I ever manage to knit through my stash to the point I can see buying more yarn, the corset it right up there with a Navaho jacket to make. Oh, and I have this design for another jacket that I can't get out of my head. Sigh.

I see that you are teaching in MN tomorrow. Hope you and your family have a wonderful time. Enjoy the State Fair. For the quintessential MN State Fair experience: deep fried cheese curds, malts while you view the butter sculptures in the dairy bldg, crop art in the horticulture bldg, visit to the barns to see the animals, top of the ferris wheel during the fireworks, anything on a stick...and of course knitting in the creative activities bldg. Then go home and soak your feet in a MN lake. Have fun! (and please plan that move while you're here!)
