Knitters Halloween

Cat on the Spiderweb Sign, originally uploaded by modeknit.

All up and down our street the fashion has become to put up a big spiderweb off the house, made with twine and usually with a big, huge spider somewhere in the web. Up the street the guys have put a stuffed kid in their web, a little errant trick-or-treater, right next to the spider.

Here's our own version. I've recycled part of my sculpture from a few years ago and planted it into the ground with old aluminum knitting needles (the points were useless, this is a good end for them!)

You can see a tiny bit of Atticus in the lower right corner, and Gig is getting ready to jump on him.

Today we had another family look at the house - I made myself scarce at Panera - and we just got the call that another family will be looking tomorow in addition to the couple that's already expressed interest to our realtor. Let's hope they like spiderwebs.

Cruisin'
I've been asked about participating in a knitting cruise, which sounds delightful, but I'd love to get a feeling for how many folks would realistically be interested in such an endeavor... I know it would be a huge hoot, that's for sure!

Carlos Sweater, originally uploaded by modeknit.

I finished the sweater for Carlos, it's turned out nicer than I hoped, with a little Fred MacMurray collar. All he needs is a pipe.

Tomorrow I teach at one of my favorite shops, The Point in NYC. I just love Helane, love her shop, and I love NYC in Autumn. Nothing nicer! Then on Sunday it's up to Yarn Barn in CT for a Cocoon Shrug class and a book signing.

... and I may have been wrong - perhaps Autumn in CT is as nice as Autumn in NYC?

But truly, nothing is nicer than autumn in Minnesota!
And I love the spiderweb. Wish I had a little trick-or-treater to throw in there *grin*

You know I am selling my condo in Montclair and everytime we have people visit I go to Panera. They have the best chocolate croissant and if you are there in the morning try the artichoke souffle. Good luck with the house!

LOVE your spiderweb! What a great idea. Maybe you can change your realtor's name to 'Nancy Ghoul' just for halloween. ;->

I think the cruise sounds like a great idea - from Sydney Australia though ;)

All the knitting cruises I've read about are on the west coast and I'd love to see one that starts out from NYC.

Annie- knitting cruises are popular. The "Knitting with the Joanes" cruise to Alaska sold out in several days (ask me how I know!). Where would the cruise go? and what time of year? If you are going to Alaska or the Northeast coast, I'm signing up now! Sally in New Orleans

A knitting cruise?! Count me in. Sounds fab! I would rent the kid out to the neighbors for the occasion, just so I could go.

So who is Carlos and why does he get such a gorgeous sweater? Huh?! :)

I'm not a big fan of the cruise idea but don't let that stop you--I think most people are itching to go!

How could the house viewers not be impressed with a hand knit spider web??? I'm sure if you threw in the web for free, they'd buy the house on the spot./
A knitting cruise sounds fabulous, especially if it were up the coast of Norway, but any cruise is too expensive for my blood. I'd love to live it vicariously through your blog, however.

I love the Carlos sweater - is there a pattern and what yarn did you use? I don't blame you for waiting until Jan 1st if possible. Hope the sale goes through for you - take some of the pressure off. Bonny

Annie, I would love to go on knitting cruise, especially if you were teaching. I wish you would come to the Estes Park Wool Market in Colorado in June to teach...

I would absolutely be interested in a knitting cruise where you were teaching and I agree with Mary that it would be nice to see one leaving from the NYC area.

Okay. Now you're just showing off. My spiderweb came out of a little bag of stringy stuff - LOL!
