I should be in bed.
Oh, wait - I am!
Well, almost. I'm about to go back up to bed because I'm suffering (I tells ya) Suffering with a sore, sore throat (not strep, the doc did the test yesterday and I don't have THAT, thank heaven) just a sore throat, runny nose and general malaise.
So, it being Saturday, I'm thinking I should be just fine for my flight to TNNA in Long Beach on Thursday. Nothing like a little enforced rest, n'est ce pas?
Previous Sweaters
The two sweaters shown on yesterdays post are new designs for Lorna's Laces. The pattern is written for the first one (yellow) and is about to be written for the reddish one. It's with their new organic wool, and it feels very nice!
With any luck I should have the pattern available for sale very soon - within a few weeks - on my website. I think I shall call it, "Gwenda"*
3:43 am Sunday Update: The patterns are sent out, folks - stay tuned for the official "final" version of the pattern when I get back from TNNA! And my throat hurts.
Sorry - offer expired! And because I'm feverish, here's an offer... To anyone who asks nicely before midnight tonight, I'll send you the raw pdf version of the pattern and you can try it out. NOTE: I won't supply yarn, I won't supply anything other than the pattern - and it's up to you to fight through it. I don't even have yarn specs aside from "worsted weight" and "dk weight" because that's all the info I was given!
Actually, this is my own sneaky way of getting it test knitted. It's a win/win situation: You get a free pattern (for a very limited time!) and I'll find some of the glaring errors that I haven't been able to see through my Nyquil haze.
Back to bed. With yarn and needles. And an audio book - weee!
*I'm listening to World Without End by Ken Follett, which contains a character named Gwenda. This looks - to my mind - like something she would wear...

I would LOVE to test-knit and review the instructions... this is a beauty! Thanks!!
Hola from the mopuntains of sunny Spain.
Hope your fever soon abates and you can pick up your needles again.
I have looked on your site for the first time today; I received Debbie Stoller's Stich n Bitch for Xmas and have been looking up all the sites it recommends.
LOVE YOUR PATTERNS!
I am one of a group of Brits living here and every week we meet to knit/crochet/sew or whatever takes our fancy. Next week we have someone coming to teach us how to make some knitted jewelry.
We would love to knit your pattern too; thanks.
Mary
I would love to test knit and review - it is fabulous! I have been admiring it since you started sharing photos! Thanks! my email is mtscoastergirl at yahoo
Get well soon!
Mary - there seems to be a trend in the first few commenters...
Oh, my! This is a sweater I would love to try -- there are so many wonderful elements!
Susan
Poor Annie, I hope you are feeling better soon. I, too, am laid low with a nasty bug. In my case, a gift from DS1 who informs me that "Sharing is caring".
I'm not positive I have enough yarn but I would love to give it a try if I do! It is really gorgeous and would suit my sister beautifully.
I hope you recover at lightning speed! I have been feeling something coming on for days and am wishing I could just be SICK already and get it over with.
Annie - sending best wishes for a quick recovery. Your designs are breathtakingly beautiful - it would hurt my brain to try to design anything like this. I would love to be included in your list of test knitters. I have yarn and needles and willing to knit!
I hope you feel better soon. I would love to try and knit the sweaters -- if you would be so kind.
Folks who've asked for the pattern - I need an email address...
Reread the blog entry (I changed it) and click on the link to send me an email so I can mail the pattern back to you!
Sorry for the confusion!
Ooooooh, I love Gwenda but my schedule is too unpredictable to be able to say I could test knit it. But I can't wait until I can buy it!!!!!
Feel better!!! Gwenda was my fav character in the book! I could definitely see her wearing this after a day in the fields - LOL!
Annie, I fully intend to knit Gwenda but NOT as a test knitter because I am nowhere near fast enough. I shall wait, purchase the pattern and then look for "just the right" yarn. It's a gorgeous pattern and I'm so very happy to hear you will be selling it. I trust you've included (or will include) instructions for those of us who qualify as "ample knitters."
You picked a wonderful time to get sick! Now you can rest, relax, spend some time at home and go off with a clear conscience. I do hope the professional designers can come to a meeting of the minds and begin to demand (and receive) the compensation they deserve.
Hmmm, perhaps I could have it finished by KnittaPalooza in March? Could I also receive a copy?
Hope you feel better soon.
Hi Annie:
I tried sending you an e-mail, but I'm not sure my computer cooperated.
In any case, I am asking (nicely!) if I could test-knit your pattern.
I'm at nancyknits18@gmail.com
Hope your throat heals soon.
Wishing you blessings of health and happiness for your whole family.
Dear Annie,
The sweater looks lovely and I would really like to knit it testing my chart reading that I learned from your class a couple years ago in North Carolina. Thanks,
Hanh
Feel better soon!
I just knew when you said you thought you'd call it 'Gwenda' that is had to be from Follett's book. What a gem. . .both the sweater and the book. Feel better. I am so excited you are coming to Mystic River Yarns in CT in March. See you there.
Annie, rest up and get well soon =)
How much time would we have to work up the pattern if we agree to test knit?
Oh darn, I didn't think to check back until now. If you need one more knitter, my email is noirbettie@gmail.com - and if you don't, I will gladly buy it when it's ready.
I missed the offer time, but it's beautiful and I can't wait to see the 'test' finished objects. It would seem that you have many not only willing, but eager guinea pigs!
I can't wait to start my own Gwenda....
I hope that you feel much better soon, but in the mean time you'll have your stash, needles and hooks to keep you warm and occupied.
I'm late to the party as always, but had to comment, as I'm listening to World Without End myself, and I think you've got the name dead on! It's great knitting listening, no? Also, should you see this comment before you leave, I had a quick question: would you recommend attending TNNA to someone (like me) who leaves sorta nearby and is just a plain old knitter/learning-to-spinner? Or is it too trade-show-y for a non-professional? Travel safely!
Hola
Mary here fom Spain; my email address is
thehouseofspain@hotmail.com
Sorry to take so long to send it on but one of the few disadvantages of living here is the lack of regular and fast internet connection! So here I am in the wonderful city of Granada and broadband to use.
Hope I am not too late to receive the pattern as a test knitter.
Mary
Mary from Spain here again.
I haven't yet received the pattern. Does that mean I won't be getting it? If so, disappointing as I was one of the first to respond...........
Mary,
I did want to send you the pattern, but had no way to get in touch with you! You left a blog post, but no contact info...
(Just about everyone else clicked on the email link in the post and I replied by sending them the pattern.)
I am at thehouseofspain@hotmail.com.
I thought I left it in my comment of january 10th but it's probably too late now. maybe next time.
