Still Sick
... And even worse. Bad sore throat - so bad it even hurts to write... heh, heh
But as a consolation prize for everyone who missed Gwenda, here'a a free pattern for all of you.
It's Netty [link to a pdf file], a funky headwrap which utilizes a TTDS - Triple Twist Drop Stitch. It's a fun stitch, and a fun pattern, and will require you to hone up on your provisional cast on and 3 needle bind off skills!
Enjoy!

TTDS - Triple Twist Drop Stitch:
Insert needle into next st and wrap yarn three times around BOTH needles, then YO around RH needle and draw YO through wraps, allowing all wrapped loops to fall off of ends of needle. Do NOT pull stitch tight until next row.
Oh, the yarn used in this - the amazingly gorgeous yarn - is
Knit One / Crochet Too Tartelette,
a 50/50 Cotton/Nylon ribbon, 75 yd skein (slightly less than one skein was used) in the colorway Sea Jewels 647

Hi Annie
I'm also getting over a cold and I'm sold on using airborne from here on it.
It's helped reduce the severity and duration of the cold symptoms! I do hope you get to feeling better soon.
Thank you for the head wrap pattern. I think if one uses a soft yarn it will make a nice chemo head covering (combined with a scarf)
Since I have such a large skull, I was never able to wear wigs during my chemo baldness, so resorted to wearing a lot of scarves.
Before I do this I've decided to master your combination knit / purl stitches. my only question (before I practice) would be how does one "do" yo, K2tog... etc when one is a combo knitter. Once I'm comfortable in knowing I can do all the stitches then it looks like you'll have another convert to "Team Heritic"!!
I have so many things that I want to do that increasing the speed by changing the method seem the only solution!
Thanks Tina Rose
Hi, Annie. I hope you feel better soon - this is supposed to be an "easy sick" so you can rest up before TNNA, remember?
Thanks for the head wrap. I was thinking along the same lines as Annie Nominous above - pick up the stitches along the "top" and work it closed - would make a "different" chemo cap - a slick idea!
I'm so sorry to hear you feel worse than yesterday. Throat pain is awful. I'm sending you wishes for a miraculous recovery. Thanks so much for the headwrap pattern. It's beautiful.
This is very cute! I'd love to see a picture of someone wearing it, I'm not at all sure how it's meant to be worn - more as a turban-style thing or as a headband?
As an aside, I think I may have seen you at Mississippi Market this morning. It's the shopping place of local celebrities, you know - Garrison Keillor shops there too.
Ha, Jess!
Did I look as dazed and confused shopping as I felt?
I had to run out and ship something, and the weather was so nice I figured I'd get some granola, too! You should have said, "HI!"
Kelly based on the width it almost looks like a turban, but not quite (well for my size of a head, I have a huge head! Runs in the family)
If I this pattern back when I was chemo bald then first I would have tied on a scarf (kirchief style tied at the base of the skull) then used the wrap as an accent piece. Thus it would come across looking like a turban.
Since I like the idea of headbands and out here in the Arizona desert when one has med to long hair one tends to use headbands in the summer when it's hot, espically if one doesn't want to chop one's hair off in order to be cool. (yes it get's cold here, we even have hard freeze warnings!)
Sorry about the side trip... all that to say, I may try knitting it narrower.
However for my great niece who's half African-american and an 1/8th Greek (nice curly hair from each group) I'll make it as Annie wrote it. She likes pulling her hair back in a wide band.
Tina Rose... heading off to Knit Picks to order "Twist"
Thanks again for the pattern Annie.kl
I would've said Hi if I was sure it was you! I'm one of those people who would rather eat something unappetizing than directly address a stranger, even if it's someone I may recognize from the internets. Maybe next time...
Thank you for the head wrap pattern! I did indeed miss the Gwenda offering but that happens when you can only occassionally catch up on blog reading. :) i hope you are feeling much better and I will now go back to reading the rest of your blog I'm behind on.... denise/deBRAT in cool for us Florida
