I apologize to anyone who's tried to purchase a pattern in the past day. There's been a bump in my pdf pattern delivery system (see below) but now I've moved to another service so everything should be fine!

Email from customer service dept of from former pdf download service
We have disabled your account until the blog post is edited to remove any and all references to our system. We have downloaded a copy of the original blog post including user's response which demonstrates a material negative impact to our brand image and is sufficient to move forward with legal action. You need to contact a lawyer immediately regarding this matter. Once we receive confirmation that all references have been removed, the account will be placed back online.
Just a heads up! I guess I should go call my lawyer...

And thank you to everyone who wrote with such lovely posts and email. It meant the world to me, and I feel like my old self again!

Yeah, consult your lawyer. But first get out your dictionary and look up "signature", "binding contract", "libel" and "slander".

Glad your page is back to "normal" and good for switching providers!
What a bunch of jerks.

I just wish Austin was close enough to take one of your fabulous classes.

Just what you need to deal with...Hope your day is better - I think this time of year in cold climates is really hard. Grey, fat, and not content with anything - that's about how I feel during these months and that's without many of the problems you have. So cut yourself some slack and try to get in an "I don't give a sh*t mood" if you aren't already there. This time of year would be great in Maui with a healthy family (or if they were well-cared for - without) sun on your body, a good ocean-breeze, knitting for pleasure, reading books, looking at some tanned surfers, something cold to drink, naps, and good company. Maybe we could meditate on that - it sounds wonderful to me. Here's hoping for better times mentally and physically to you, your family and the world.
Always, Robin

Hi Annie,
Hang in there and good for you for taking action. You are not the only one that has had issues with this group. Check out ripoffreportDOTcom to find reports of issues similar to yours - including being threatened with legal action and having service cut off. I don't think they'll be around for much longer if they keep us this sort of stuff. I wish I lived close enough to come and take a class from you. Hope you are having fun in Pittsburgh.

Wow, such a cheek. Doesn't say much for them. To be honest, I know at least four people that have switched in the past month from p....z because of the same issue.
They must have ALOT of free time if they are actually going round and checking peoples' blogs.

I don't think your post was libelous. It expressed your dissatisfaction with the service. As such, I think that is an opinion. However, I am no lawyer.

On the other hand, if they hadn't gotten smartmouth with you, the whole thing wouldn't have come to this. So it's their fault.

Oh yeah, and if they thought that the account was "unimportant" because it's "just knitting", they may discover that more people than they thought knit. and thus care about the delivery service...

I think you're doing the right thing. You should be able to discuss the quality of a product or service freely and not risk being "sued" or whatever they think they are threatening you of.

Keep up your awesomeness!

What a bunch of egocentric jerks! I hope they lose lots of customers over their arrogant behavior. They should think seriously about re-educating their employees. It's a tough economy out there and other services are available.

Once again I'm glad to see you speak your mind and stand up for you and many others. Yay Annie!

I suggest forwarding any email correspondence to Boing Boing. Those guys love busting out companies that make bad decisions like this. Your site traffic would go up so be prepared for that if you send it their way. There's a little thing called "transparency" that is a good business practice, especially for an online business.

glad to hear things are better and i agree with a few others, check out some BBB groups and file a complaint. I also know another service that I will NOT be recommending to my clients.

Consumerist.com is another site that loves to publicize these customer no-service stories.

I am not a lawyer, but my guess is they're blowing smoke and trying to intimidate you into shutting up. Lots of sub-par places do that, apparently. Morons.

I am delurking to do something I never do: give a stranger unsolicited legal advice. I'm a knitter and a lawyer here in St. Paul, MN. I'm a trial lawyer and I know how hard it is to ever make a viable claim for defamation or related torts. Don't waste your money calling your lawyer. You are at no risk. Don't waste a second's sleep or peace over the foolish threats you have received. They are only trying to scare you. Love your blog.

Sounds like schoolyard bully tactics to me. By their standards, lodging a complaint and/or telling your friends that you had a customer service issue is cause for legal action. Sorry, but that's just not true.

I think I'd send them the name and number of your lawyer and tell them that any further correspondence on the issue should be directed to him/her. Or just ignore them, since this kind of attitude will probably result in their going out of business sooner or later anyway.

Geez. I guess the concept of free speech, as they understand it, applies only to what they want to say. Dissenting opinions are not welcome. PFFT! :P

What a bunch of shitzoids - I am not a lawyer (nor do I play one on TV) but I do know that as a consumer of a product/service you are free to voice your opinion of that product/service be it pro or con.

You keep pluggin' Annie. It's February and we're ALL down in the mouth with this winter that refuses to end.

Annie,

We just recently flew JetBlue, and the leg room was great! Maybe not enough for your long legs, but you should look into them if they're going where you're going.

the best defense to a charge of libel is the truth.

ask everyone who had a problem with loadzpay to send you an email.

should they take threaten real action, you go in and show, that you didn't do anything but speak the truth. their service failed to do as they promiced, and you stated that.

the more proof you have (from dissatisfied customers,) the less of case they have!

(and all their threats won't sit well with a court either! it's perfectly OK to threaten to take action, but not to threatend to take action against your blog!)

I missed the original post apparently, but I have to say that I have had some trouble with the service I believe you are referring to lately. I don't know who in the world they have hired in their customer service department lately, but they aren't exactly the most gracious people on earth. I received a short, snippy response to my problem and had to send another email back to say they didn't understand my problem.

I was going to wait to switch to another service, but was waiting til Ravelry got up and running. But after hearing this, I think I might just work on switching this week!
