Goin' to Kansas City
Kansas City, here I come...
Wow, life goes so fast, huh?
I just got back from Portland and in two weeks I'll be flying again, this time down to Kansas City! [more about that below]
Portland was amazing, and I'm hoping to teach at some local venues when I return in September to teach at the TKGA Knit & Crochet Show at the Portland Convention Center.
If you missed any of my classes this time, I'll be teaching some of the same things, and some new classes too. Mostly, though, you'll just laugh a lot (and then when you get home you'll wonder, "How did I learn so much knitting if I was laughing all the time..?")
And how buzzed am I that the Happy Gnome here in St. Paul has Hazlenut Brown? I just rode Hannah over to her new Jr. High for registration, then back home (4 miles, it's a lot for ME!) and celebrated with a fine glass of Hazlenut Brown from Portland. Happy days.
I've scheduled a late month tour of the Surly Brewery for the family (kids are allowed, wee!) so it will be a beer-li-cious May. I have mentioned that a brewery tour was the highlight of our honeymoon, right?
It's also the month of the Shepherd's Harvest Fiber Fest out in Lake Elmo on May 10th & 11th, and with this warm weather I'm getting VERY excited to go! I wonder if I can sneak Atticus in masqueraded as a sheep?
I'm teaching a few classes, and although Combination is sold out there's a waiting list, and my lace class still has openings. There are some amazing things to see and many other classes, too! What a wonderful way to spend Mother's day!

Tonight I'm going to go to a monthly support group for cancer care-givers. It's my first time, and I'm curious as to what I'll find there.

Hey Annie - my mom lived in KC for a few years, and that is a great yarn shop. As a fellow beer lover, I thought I would let you know to be sure to try Boulevard Beer. It's KC's local microbrewery and they make awesome beer!
Hey Annie, I live in St. Louis, but I registered for your Kansas City classes so I'll see you there. As for beer, it's a sacred subject for my family--my husband and I were married in a wonderful local brewery, complete w/ men in kilts, bagpipers and 6 kinds of microbrew on tap. It's been 10 years and people still tell me how much fun they had at our wedding. See you in KC and I'll be happy to accompany you for any beer tasting that might occur.
[Elmo has his own lake? Is it red and giggly? Is Big Bird jealous?] I hope you have a blast with your classes. I am so glad that I found your blog.
I wish I was in Kansas, well even the USA so I could take a class with you. Best wishes for your cancer support group.

I have seen dogs at Shepherd's Harvest in the past. They seem to be well received.
In what pattern is that lace cable/celtic knot that is on either side of the cable in the photograph?
Have fun on the brewery tours and KC, and hoist (at least) one for me.

I know I am a little late to comment on this, but the Surly glass caught my attention. My cousin, Todd, is the Brew Master at Surly. Did you enjoy it? I haven't had a chance to tour or even taste his brew, yet. I was in Minneapolis for the Knit Out, but I was so busy at the MOA and checking out the yarn shops, I didn't get to the brewery. Just another excuse to get back to Minneapolis.
