It's my Birthday
...and I'll buy if I want to!

I just bought myself a book for my birthday, woo! I'm fascinated by the Tarim Basin, the silk road and the early nomads, so when this popped up in my email today from Amazon I clicked and I bought. Happy birthday to me!

I also got up early and rode my bike down to Cafe Latte to meet Rachel Maddow (she signed my shirt!) and her her speak. She starts her new show on MSNBC on Monday, it was a delight to meet her in person! I think I confused her ...

This evening Gerry's volunteering again (it gets him out and allows him to contemplate if he really could do a full time job again) so he won't be around for dinner.

So he's taking me to lunch today at the Happy Gnome, it's a gorgeous day today (sunny & 71 with a hint of Autumn crispness) and I may just get myself a haircut. And sit outside and knit. Is there a better day than that?

Happy birthday! Enjoy your day :) That book looks really interesting -- I'm off to put it on my wishlist. If you like that sort of thing, you might also like The Mummies of Urumchi by Elizabeth Barber (her book "Women's Work: The First 20,000 Years" is one of my very favorite in all the world). Have a wonderful rest of the day!

Happy, Happy Birthday, Annie! This one is certainly better than the last and we know the next will top this for sure :) Maybe eeting Olbermann next year will be your present, although Rachel Maddow is pretty good her own self.

Much love and thanks for sharing yourself and the family with us.

And thanks for developing and selling the corset pattern - I've swatched it in Cascade's Flash (cotton, now discontinued) and it's going to be drop dead gorgeous.

Hi Annie - Happy Birthday a bit late - I think Yahoo is messed up I just got the link to Sept 2 entry this morning & the link to this entry just now! I'm jealous that you got to meet Rachel Maddow - I am a huge fan of hers - maybe as big a fan of hers as I am of Keith Olberman. My brother & I kind of feel like her getting her own show is a BD present for us as well as for her grandma. My BD was Friday & my brother's was Sat. (My grandson's was Sunday but he's just 5 & they don't have cable so he's not a RM or KO fan yet.)
