Welcome to Small World, MN
I cannot believe it - how odd! A student from one of my classes at Yarnzilla when I was here last happened to notice Hannah (and Gerry and Max and me) and also happened to be bagging her groceries at the same time. So - the first time I'm ever recognized for anything in a supermarket and it's in Minnesota. Is this a sign?
Please note that the temperature today was 68 and it was overcast - yet they INSISTED on swimming in the outdoor pool. I slept. Gerry did Dad duty while he read the help wanted page of the local paper.I'm leaving in a few minutes to go up to Creative Fibers to teach a class on Combo knitting. I tried for quite a while today to get my handout to print in the "business center" here, but to no avail. It is the continuing saga of a girl and her inability to print out handouts...
After this class, I'm free for a week. Albeit, free with conditions - a LARGE box of yarn arrived for me here from Lana Grosso for a dress I'm working up for VK, just when I think I'm getting away they keep dragging me back...
I can't wait to see who I run into at the Caribou Coffee - maybe an old college chum?
Oh - the piece de resistance - once again we're in a PT CRUISER! Life is pretty damned good.

I just fell upon your blog tonight, and I want to tell you I purchased the millinery book--I have plans (big plans) to try out a hat. Your designs are always so interesting. That Emmy dress is gorgeous.
Thanks for sharing.

I'm so sorry I missed you in Minnesota. I was there LAST week. Oh well. Hope you come to Phoenix, AZ some time. I would love to learn Combo knitting from you.
Emmy is BEAUTIFUL! I hope the actress wears it. I'll be watching and hoping along with you!
Hope you enjoy your trip to MN, Annie - and that you survived today's terrible rainstorms!
If you happen to be at the state fair on Monday, I'll be in Carousel Park (it's my last day of work before I move to OR!), do say hello!
Annie, while you are in the Twin Cities consider taking your family to the Science Museum of Minnesota. in St. Paul There is a Human Body exhibit (Bodyworks) that is suppose to be great.
Here I am posting another comment. I, too, hope last night's severe thunderstorms don't turn you off from Minnesota. The storms were strong where I live (Rochester, MN) but I hope people have been telling you that storms that strong aren't very common. I hope your class last night wasn't distrupted by the weather.
Well, I'm off to go out and right my overturned grill that blew off our deck last evening.
Those kids are meant to be Minnesotan's; swimming at 68 degrees is in our blood here. (although it does dissapate with age). Hope the storms & softball sized hail didn't disrupt the class - was really hoping to make it but I had to work :(
Enjoy your trip!
Hi Annie, thanks so much for the most entertaining class I have ever attended. You are a delight to be around and I love your combination knitting. I went home last night and practiced like crazy. I really hope you move to Minnesota, I will sign up for all your classes! Don't forget to send me the handout. Thanks again. Cheryl
Oh, my gosh. I feel like a celebrity is in my backyard! Hope you enjoy MN.
Hope you enjoy MN. Don't forget the Creative Activities building at the State Fair....that's where the knitting is!
When in Minnesota, you won't want to miss the Fair. You want Minnesota? You got it - take in the Fine Arts Building, Adjacent to Machinery Hill, Adjacent to the skate/bike/board park/ next to the breastfeeding tent, smack up against the DFL building (that's Democrats, to you out-of-staters, Democrat Farm Labor to Minnesotans), next to the free water, just down from Creative Activities where, sure, you'll find knitting, but do search for the knitted string BIKINI relegated to the back corner of the building (what category should we put that in, Gladys? Exhibitionist?), not to forget the Philatelists' collections. There is possibly nothing else so Minnesotan. Food? Schumacher's, nothing on a stick, and they serve wine. When you wear down, sit down, listen to Klezmer music, bluegrass, MN fiddlers' contest...I love this place. Take the free bus from the northeast corner of I-94 & Snelling, 5 minutes later, you're there! Do not park on the grounds of the fair, it will suck all joy out of your visit.
(as I type, I'm cabling, making the Mighty X)
Have Gerry pick up both the St. Paul and the Minneapolis Sunday papers for the job ads, there will be some duplication, but they will mostly be different. Have a great visit. I took one of your classes at Yarnover in April and it would be terrific if you do move here. Carolyn
One of our favorite vacations were spent in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Lovely, lovely, lovely. Sometimes I wish we lived there!
