Rushing, rushing
GUILT
I'm writing this when I should be going to CVS to pick up milk and then running by the PO box to see what's inside. But here I am, blogging. I can hear Gerry getting some of the recycling out to the curb, and I've got guilt on top of that. I can't get him to sit - PLEASE SIT, GERRY - I HAVE TO GO OUT OF TOWN AND I CAN'T GO SO WORRIED!
Guilt assuage: I folded a few loads of laundry to day and packed for all of us - I'm taking the kids clothes up with me so Gerry has less to deal with on Sunday. He's all packed, too, and his suitcase is in the car with the walker. I just have to put the soft roof rack in the car so we can use it on the way back.
KITCHEN
Today we're meeting with a contractor to actually hear the bid. Yikes. Then Jennie The Potter is picking me up and we're going up to Duluth together. She's doing a craft show up there, I'm speaking to the guild and teaching at Yarn Harbor, then she'll drive home and I'll hang around waiting for Gerry and the kids to arrive on Sunday.
SHOWERED
This arrived a few days ago - it was actually SEVERAL dozen, but these are all that are left.
They were ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS, TANIS - and so generous and wonderful of you!
Having a husband who's becoming so thin is a strong inducement to lose a bit of weight myself...
I'll try to be sensible and keep it down to a can a day.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ's After selling off our HUGE furniture, we were lacking a good chair in the living room. It's become more important because
Gerry really needs a place to rest, to get on the computer and to snooze if he wants. I've been on the lookout for a smallish recliner, one that's not overstuffed and is still comfortable.
I spent a good 2 hours on it last night, and finally jimmied it in a non-satisfying way (I'll readress it - it WILL recline now, but it's not an elegant looking solution...)
At any rate, it was a good bargain, it's comfortable leather (Amy Singer and I were pondering the question the other day - would a vegan sit on a leather sofa?) and Gerry likes it. Yay!
He fell asleep in it yesterday, and I was very happy.
SPORTS
Max hit the ball several times yesterday, and made a play at first base. I was here working on the aformentioned recliner, so I missed it.
Perhaps he only does well when I'm not there...?
At any rate, Gerry was able to go to the game and saw it - and it meant the world to Max.

Annie,
Have a great time on your vacation/rest up north. I don't know if you go to yarn shops if you don't have to, but there is a great yarn shop (on Lake Superior) in Knife River (just northeast of Duluth). It is the best place for a yarn shop and the owner is a wonderful lady.
If Jerry likes classic cars, the Back to the 50's car show is at the state fair grounds this weekend. All you have to do is park a lawn chair on Snelling (anyplace north of University Ave) and there will be a parade of cars going through all weekend.
Diet Coke- the perfect stress reliever! :)
(Amy Singer and I were pondering the question the other day - would a vegan sit on a leather sofa?)
Myself, I'd try not to. I like the floor. :) But I ride in a car with leather interior all the time. There's no avoiding it, sometimes. BUT- I would never OWN any leather furniture. That's a different thing altogether.
OH! I came back to say that my comment wasn't meant to be snarky towards your new chair! ACK! Not at all! I NEVER judge what someone else does.
Sorry it probably sounded snarky.
:p
Have a wonderful trip up north - I'll be green with envy back here in the cities....
Glad you like the little surprise of five flats of DC. I know you try to keep the house "Diet Coke Kosher", but sometimes a girl needs a little stress reliever and/or personal treat.
Enjoy--and hide it/claim it as your own personal stash.
PS--you can "blame" Amy Singer, as she enabled with this little surprise. MWahahahaha
There is no room for guilt when one does what makes one's heart sing, if you don't take care of yourself you will not be able to effectively care for anyone else, in other words, when the tank is empty there is nothing to give.
My prayer are with you all.
Have a great trip.
On the Vegan front....my hubby is vegetarian and used to order Vegan shoes from the US!.............Come on we live in the Far North!!! He now has a couple of leather pairs but it still bothers him.
Janet MF up in Yellowknife
Annie:
Have a GREAT trip. This will be wonderful that you, Gerry, Max, and Hannah will all be able to be together and RELAX! (Oh, I can't forget Atticus! sp?)
Enjoy your time together. You'll have to post pics when you get back!

When I started chemo I found a recliner at 50% off and even though I don't like how it looked it was a godsend (though yours is much more attractive than mine!). It helped me sleep when lying flat induced heartburn, and I spent many, many evenings falling asleep comfortably in it. It was a huge help; I hope yours helps Gerry as much!
Annie - I as well found my recliner (thanks Freecycle) invaluable during chemo and radiation (done together) I too hope along with Rachel helps Gerry as much as ours helped us.
BTW - I'm a Vegan and wear leather. I do it for my health (helped me restore my health after cancer (as well as lose 150 lbs in the past year.)
Tina
Have a great time!
Annie,
My prayers are with you and your family. I have been to several of your workshops when you were in AL and GA and am amazed by you knitting skills. I will be at the Midwest show also, but won't be at your workshops unfortunately. I hope your husbands health just continues to improve, God is still in the miracle business! I'll be praying for him!
I just purchased the pattern. Please read my email and do not mail. I am as happy printing it out here. It is a lovely pattern.
Hi Laritza,
Thank you so much for your kind donation. Just so everyone understands, I don't mail any of my patterns, they're just available in PDF format.
The Red Convertible can be downloaded simply by clicking on the "Click Here To Download" text. You'll receive it as an adobe acrobat PDF file.
Once again - thank you so much for your kindness.
Would a vegan sit on a leather sofa?
Depends on the person. I don't wear leather (and am veggie, not vegan), and wouldn't buy leather, but would sit on a sofa in someone else's house. Same goes for the vegan and veggie closest to me (brothers), who asked their parents not to buy leather sofas, but accepted that it's their choice, and sit on them when they're visiting.
