Just placed my order with Amazon...can't wait.
Hi Annie,
Thanks for the free Hannah Poncho Pattern. I have a question about the charts. In the stitch key is says to purl wrong side rows. In the written directions it says to knit wrong side rows. I'm thinking they should be purled for the wave pattern, but I wanted to be certain.
Thanks!
Hey Anon!
I'm glad you like the Poncho - it's one of my favorites! (The model's pretty cute, too!)
You're right about the wave section - that's in garter stitch.
The garter wave section, though, isn't in the chart, those rows are worked BETWEEN the charts - see the section in bold below:
With A, work all rows of chart 1 - 7 [8, 9,
9, 10] times around all sts.
(K1 round in B, p1 round in B, K1 round
in C, p1 round in C) 1 [2, 2, 2, 3] times
With B, work all rows of chart 2 - 7 [8, 9,
9, 10] times around all sts.
Also, when I write up the stitch keys to my charts I explain what each symbol means, the vertical line means "knit me on the right side, purl me on the wrong side"
It's a comprehensive way of saying it, but since this poncho is worked in the round, there is no wrong side in this specific pattern. Therefore the garter st is achieved by knitting a round, then purling a round.
I hope this helps!
Hey Miriam!!
No, dear, THIS is the magnificent skirt that you knit for me in, what, 45 minutes?
You are fast, girl!
The "Butt Skirt" was one that I knit up - a last minute addition - and I did it in a weekend. I'm fast, too...
The gauntlet has been laid down...
Oooh, I loved looking through the pictures on Flickr. How hard would it be to modify the minidress into a halter top (looks easy to me, but I haven't obviously seen the pattern yet)?
That cover shot is lovely! (I've been meaning to say that). Simply beautiful. Good luck with the book sales. This one looks like a winner.
"fly fishing"??
what am i missing here?
good luck with the book - sure is an eye-catcher!
So, howz come we can't see interior pages on KnitPicks?
I pre-ordered at my local book store! I'm totally excited about it. And maybe, just maybe, the tushie I had twenty years ago could wear that skirt! I'll bring it with me when you come to HCW in the fall to autograph(you do autograph don't you?). (c:
blessings and peace, Pammie
I did notice the book release date in the newsletter, just thought you are planning ahead :-)
I'm a faithful reader of your blog (oh yeah, and I knit too). You are an inspiration with your work, mothering, dealing with Gerry's illness, while moving half way across the country. My best wishes to you and your family.
