Quel heure et il?

I swear, I'm still on Mediterranean Time - I want to sleep when it's daylight and get up at dusk.

I'm in Sacramento, and I've seldom had such a warm welcome from any group as I did this morning when I met the Camellia City StockinÕettes

What a lovely group of folks - how much fun we had today! I have another day with them tomorrow, with two of my best and favorite classes (Lace & Cables) so I'm really looking forward to getting up in the MORNING!

After class I drove to Trader Joe's to pick up some faux airborne so I can fight off any residual effects of too much teaching and work and air time, not enough good, solid rest.

I called Gerry and we had a nice chat - I miss him - I miss the kids & Elaine - I miss Atticus and Gigi. Heck, I just plain miss Minnesota. Sacramento seems really lovely, the weather is splendid today, but it's not home.

The lovely thing about being away, though, is that I'm too far from the vacuum cleaner or laundry room to be able to do much physical labor. The past week has been so much physical work, running up and down stairs, cleaning, packing, unpacking, mopping and putting away, etc. I ran myself a bit ragged trying to get things ready for Gerry to come home so soon, and getting ready for this trip.

Once I get home I have a break - a bit unexpected [surprise!] - until I leave for my next trip. I'm glad, though. It will be good to have time together as a family, and Hannah's birthday's coming up. I have NO idea what she'd like to do - I'd love for her to have a small party for her new friends, so I need to ask her what sort of thing she'd like to do.

TYRED
I have to say I'm definitely feeling the effects of jet lag, and I'm really happy to have this evening to just veg in my hotel room, watch TV, do a little knitting and just rest.

I love bed. This bed is a nice one. The internet is nothing to write home about (ethernet cable required, the one provided is about 20" long - d'oh!) and there's no free breakfast here I find that so odd in this day and age - this is the first place I've stayed in YEARS that didn't have a complimentary breakfast - eh, go figure. This will be my last visit to a Marriott Courtyard for a while, I was spoiled by Staybridge Suites in Rochester over the past 2 months!

While I'm resting - and not posting much tonight - here are some images from France in my flickr gallery. Enjoy!

Hi! I'm glad you're enjoying Sacramento (barring the breakfast incident -- I don't know if you're still there, or where you are, but if you're downtown, try to the Fox and Hound); I'm from there originally, and seriously tried to figure out whether I could tell my parents I was coming to visit them, whilst simultaneously spending all of my time at your knitting classes :) Alas, it turned out to be a no go. Enjoy the vacuum-free space, and be really really glad you didn't go there in August (veryvery hot).

I hear your Sunday class was wonderful in Sacramento. Welcome to our part of the country.

Annie - I loved your classes in Sacramento! Your fine-tuned and thoughtful techniques really are special and make Master Knitter standards attainable. Your left-leaning decrease is a revelation. I started a Mystery Stole 3 this summer, was not happy with my SSK, and put it on hold. Now I'm going to frog it and start over because I love your method of making the decreases. Thank you! Your cable instructions, c'est magnifique! No more stretched out stitches. Yeah! And, I see you are a Tim Gunn fan, too. Don't you just love him? Have a great time while you are in California, and get over your cold.

hubbie & i stayed at the courtyard for our mini-honeymoon, and they did the same to us. i think they're geared for the businessman who has an expense account to cover everything (the $300 cleaning charge for anyone caught smoking ina non-smoking room was a bit ridiculous, but hey (hubbie has quit smoking since then)). what got me was the per hour charge for using their internet isp! ouch!

Quelle heure est-il?

If you're going to do pretentious "French", at least use a dictionary.

*sigh* Yeah, that comment's helpful.

I'm glad you're getting a bit of a rest. You've earned it after that whirlwind cleaning session. I'm glad to hear that Gerry's sounding well, too. I worry so about you two.

I saw the neatest idea for a birthday party--fancy dinner with the parents and/or siblings as the funny waitpeople and cooks. It sounded like such fun, and I'm thinking of trying that for Anna this summer.

I wish I was still in Sacramento but I moved to the Bay Area for work. I think you're going to be teaching at Rumplestiltskins (what I wouldn't give to live just a few blocks from such a well-stocked shop again! ) and the Fox and Goose is a wonderful breakfast place just a couple of doors down.

Welcome to Northern California! I hope your stay her is ever so restful. You deserve it!

This is my first post to your blog, and I must tell you that you are my hero! I can only hope that I cope as well as you, if ever faced with the trials you have been given.

Annie, We can only do as much as we can do, and it has to be enough! I wish you the best of results for Gerry, and I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

OMG- you were this close to me and I missed you!??? (Sound of wailing) I love your book, and hope you do a DVD soon! As my best friend says, Backwards Polish Knitters Untie! (We're both combination knitters, both of Polish American background, and both sport our Knit for Brains t shirts at every opportunity.)
