Cheaper Than
Therapy Cheaper
Than Therapy I
received so many emails from
knitters and fiber artists who had
felt marginalized (either by the
fact that they choose to express
themselves using such 'homey'
crafts, or because - within the
community itself - they espouse new
or novel ideas that almost seem
heretical) that I was inspired to
write my first book,
Confessions
of a Knitting
Heretic. Now
I'd like to publish many of those
emails, essays, letters and brief
notes which capture the essence of
how knitting, crocheting - and other
fiber arts - can affect a mind in
turmoil in a troubled
time. I'm
interested in hearing
YOUR story. You
don't need to be an established
writer, you only need to have
something heartfelt to say about how
you have been changed - or
have changed the world around
you - through yarn. I
am able to pay a small fee for
submissions which I accept. If I
accept your piece for the book, I
will work with you to clarify points
which may not seem immediately
obvious, and will share full credit
with all contributors. Essays
can be any length. There' s no need
to pad out a short piece - they can
be a wonderful counterpoint in a
book of long essays. Sometimes a few
brief paragraphs contain the
sharpest observations. You may
choose to express yourself in poetry
- this is fine - I'm happy to read
anything that you care to
send. I
have all the essays for Cheaper Than
Therapy, but I will be accepting
submissions for
a
possible future
edition!
Please email
me with your
submissions.
Include the piece IN THE BODY
OF THE EMAIL, not as an
attached document.
