The Boyfriend Sweater
by Bruce Weinstein
photos by Jared Flood
This is a very handsome book. It’s absolutely beautiful (I would expect NO less from my good friend, Jared Flood, who photographed the sweaters with such sensitivity!)
A follow up, in a sense, to Knits Men Want, this crosses into new territory with sizing for women as well as men, a definite PLUS!
The pieces tend to a very simple shape, but as most knitters know, recipients often LOVE the simpler sweaters.
The start of the book features 19 short, pithy tips and techniques that will allow a new knitter conquer any project in the book, and are a good
The complex, cabled, lace covered stuff

Knitted Farm Animals
Sarah Keen
I love a book that is exactly what it says it is. This is a book of – guess what? – knitted farm animals.
Sarah revisits her earlier theme books, Knitted Wild Animals & Knitted Noah’s Ark. Whether these are created as toys or creative embellishments for unusual scarves and hats, they look like a crazy good time.
They’re perfect, hug-able, and the fabric shaping mimics the anatomy of each animal in very clever ways.
My favorite is the hen and her chicks, but then I’ve had a thing for hens for quite a while…

How’s THAT for an unexpected holiday gift!
Memorable boyfriend was most like a bull.
My most memorable boyfriend went on to become my husband. He reminds me of a ram: strong-headed!
Well…my most memorable boyfriend is now my fiance’ and he reminds me of a cow. Simple, sweet, and warm to the touch. If that doesn’t count, then I also had an ex-boyfriend who reminded me of a goat. Hard headed, loud and he would eat anything and everything.
🙂
A pig–the pink one shown above is adorable!
My most memorable BF was like a mule … stubborn and not-so-smart. 🙂
Hmm, I’d say a horse – handsome, sleek. Thanks!
My Most Memorable Boyfriend was like a farm cat. Very sweet but went after anything that wiggled.
Memorable farm animal – a goat, he would eat anything and everything.
My most memorable boyfriend is now my hubby. He always reminds me of a baby calf because our first date was after working a night shift together and going to his family farm to bottle feed the calves. They both have those beautiful eyes, too. : )
I have been married for over 30 years, but one ex-boyfriend was definitely the rooster. Strutting around for all the ladies and thought he was the most important dude on the farm.
Which direction to take this…..hmmm. Well, I’ll go with nice in the spirit of the season. My most memorable boyfriend was like a sheep. Kind of followed the crowd, not much gumption. I guess I’m not QUITE in the spirit just yet!!
Definitely mule…stubborn.
Well, I don’t mean this as a nasty comment but my ex would remind you of a cow…yes, really.
Not a farm animal, and not my most memorable boyfriend (I married that one), but I did date a guy who loved penguins. And the first time I saw him run, I stopped wondering why….
Most memorable BF – my ex husband: a social butterfly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most memorable boyfriend was a herding dog….maybe a border collie 🙂
My most memorable boyfriend who didn’t end up as my husband was actually a popcorn farmer for a while, and his two pigs, “Ham” and “Bacon” will forever be in my mind. Although, he was a bit of a chicken….
Hmmm the boyfriend I married reminds me of….. Are cats farm animals? I have one daughter who loved pandas (not a farm animal) and one that reminds me of a puppy!
Memorable boyfriend was most like a Bull.
As someone has already mentioned, my ex definitely reminds me of a tomcat. I’m glad it never lasted. He is on his fourth spouse!
I’d have to say a horse.
My boyfriend-husband-ex reminded me of a billy goat: strong, stubborn and (more than) occasionally crotchity.
Mine reminded me a lot of Eeyore so suppose a donkey!
My most memorable boyfriend that didnt become my husband reminds me of a turkey… not so smart but determined.
A knuckle headed bull. Thanks for the fun give-away!
My most memorable boyfriend was like a pig….which was also his nickname. But since I <3 pigs, it was just fine!
I don’t know if this counts as a farm animal or not, but mine reminds me of an elephant: Smart and with a long memory.
My most memorable boyfriend was much like a cat. Barn cats are farm animals, right?
Hmm… Hard to say, but I’m going to copy Kim on the farmcat. Handsome, but definitely went after anything that even thought about wiggling.
My most memorable boyfriend became my husband. He reminds me most of a sheep herding dog. He is brilliant, protective, alert, energetic and always ready for an adventure!
Hmmm . . . maybe a mule?
Most memorable boyfriend was a horse … long faced, strong, mind of his own.
A pig. The guy was definitely a pig. ‘Nuff said.
I would say a griffin (hey, it was my BF, he can be mythological in my mind!) He was brave and strong like a lion and sharp like an eagle. Alas, we ended up on opposite sides of the world…
I seem to have a propensity for girlfriends who are like sheepdogs – hyper alert, wanting to herd people into an easily maintained area. The current girlfriend is a police officer, so it works really well for her!
I have one ex-boyfriend who, in his sleep, told me, “You’re a pile of compost.” When he woke up (no, I didn’t murder him in his sleep), he tried to play it off as though he was saying I was nourishing and earthy and creatively rich — but that was clearly utter codswallop. Based on that recollection, the only farm animal I can compare him to is a pig, furtling around in the muck!
I had a boyfriend who would have to be a llama. Because he had this llama dance. It’s really hard to explain. He was not the most normal of my boyfriends by a long shot.
I had one who reminded me of a rabbit!
My most memorable boyfriend became my husband and continues to be the most generous of all farm yard animals – the milk cow as he constantly gives back in every way possible.
I would have to say a squirrel. I know not exactly a farm animal but he reminds of that persistent squirrel that destroys every pest proof bird feeder you buy.
Although quite handsome at the time, my most memorable ex transformed into a pig. Not just a pig, but a BIG FAT STINKY PIG. I’ve unfriended him twice on FB due to his wing nut political comments. Glad that man got away!
I would have to say a pig only because his family had a small sausage plant and their logo had his dad’s features on a pig face and they strongly resembled each other.
Too bad an ostrich isn’t a farm animal. Head in the sand, ignoring reality describes him.
There is an ostrich farm near Ojai, CA. I saw them in a pasture and did a double take!
A rooster for sure. I ‘m so glad I did not marry him.
There are some very funny answers here! Hmm… I did have one ex who behaved much like a rooster… strutting around showing off for all the hens around him. A very “cock-a-doodle-doo look at me!” kind of person.
I can’t think of anyone else who is so strongly personified by a single animal type…
My husband is like a duck: seems calm on the surface to everyone else, but I get to see the mad paddling that goes on underneath!
A rooster…. always had to preen and crow about his accomplishments. Also strutted around expecting everyone to admire him!
Well, if you read Kristin Nicholas’ blog you’ll see her mention of her Border Collies –sheep herding dogs — lively, glorious animals with lovely black and white coats. I guess, in hindsight, that’s what both Chris and George remind me of. Glorious creatures to look at and watch, but bossy as the dickens. Between us? Either one would have been a better choice than the one I made… 🙁
I guess he was most like a farm dog – one who’s bark was worse than his bite!
My most memorable boyfriend (and now husband) reminds me of a strong and faithful draft horse
